Our first leg of the road trip took us from Munich airport, through to Hohenschwangau. After loading our rental car and fitting the car seat we could hit the highway. The drive went well for us, from the busy autobahn outside Munich through to narrow countryside lanes. We even got stuck behind a huge pile of manure.
We decided to make the most of the evening little and catch a shuttle up to Schloss Neuschwanstein. A beautiful castle over looking the town and the entire region. The last shuttle was perfect for us, at 5:30pm. Once at the top carpark it’s a short walk up a steep path to Marienbrücke; a bridge over an impressive gorge that has a view of the castle.
After the bridge, we walked down a path to the castle, you can walk right in front of it which is very cool. Some of the viewpoints of the surrounding valley and planes are mind blowing. You can tour the castle but it’s very popular and we weren’t sure on how baby friendly it may be.
